W Sound Design is a Chicago-based audio production/rental company owned and operated by Owen Wagner, a professional production sound mixer and location sound recordist. Since 2017, W Sound Design has specialized in high-quality location sound for film, television, and commercial productions.

Before starting W Sound Design, Owen started his career in New Orleans, working under IATSE Local 478 as a boom operator and utility sound technician on scripted film and TV projects, as well as A1 for NFL Films’ Enhanced Audio program with the New Orleans Saints. From there, he transitioned to the role of sound supervisor at a commercial production house before launching his freelance audio services in Chicago in 2024.

Over the years Owen has had the privilege to work for clients like Red Bull, The Athletic, Virgin Hotels, CBS Sports, BBC Storyworks, the Chicago Federal Reserve, and PBS NewsHour. He has covered a broad range of production audio, from documentary to live broadcasts, and can provide top-tier equipment for any size or style of production.
